How to Assemble Closet Space

It’s not uncommon for people to spend their weekends working on home renovations and improvement projects. Many homeowners today opt to make their home improvements because of the current economic climate.

If you consider yourself somewhat handy, this is a terrific method to update your home without incurring a hefty construction price. I figured I’d write up a detailed tutorial on “How to Build a Wardrobe” for all you DIYers debating whether to tackle the kitchen or the bedroom first.

You won’t need to be the world’s best Mr. Fix-it to pick up these skills quickly. You don’t have to rush because you’re not getting paid by the hour; instead, focus on doing a good job.

The overall dimensions of the closet will be 2100 (82.67in) tall, 1200 (47.24in) broad, and 600 (23.62in) deep.

The doors on the closet we are constructing today will swing open on concealed hinges, which is the most straightforward method. The following is a cutting list that can be used to construct your cabinet from scratch.

The color board is MDF that is 16 mm (0.62 in) thick (it can be painted or purchased with a melamine surface).

This is Gables 2 at 2100 by 600 pixels (82.67 by 23.62 inches).

Two (2) doors, 2000 x 581 (78.74 by 22.87 inches)

1164 x 100 (45.82 x 3.93 inches) Kick Face 1

White 16mm (0.62) carcass with edge stripping visible.

Two-thirds top and bottom, 1136 x 555 (44.72 x 21.85 inches).

1136 x 555 (44.72 x 21.85 inches) on shelf 1.

Place the peak so that it makes a right angle with the roof’s termination point. Find the screw holes through the roof’s face and insert the screws there. The peak can be attached to the roof using screws.

Put the base on the opposite side of the roof. Attach the base to the ridge with screws.

Place the shelf 1684 mm (or at the chosen height, this area will be used for hanging) from the floor. Mount the shelf to the eave with screws.

Join the opposite roof’s top, bottom, and shelf with screws.

Cabinet’s back goes upside-down over the carcass once it’s been flipped over. The back’s short edge must be lined up with the bottom face of the bottom. You may screw the bottom into the rear. Align the long side to meet the roof at a right angle. Attach the back to the ridge throughout its length using screws. Fix screws into the shelf and continue screwing the back to the cabinet throughout its circumference.

Put the big aperture of your adjustable feet on the bottom of your carcass and screw them in place. Get your dead body off the floor.

Step back and look at how far you’ve come; you’re almost there!

There should be four hinge blocks per roof, which are attached with screws.

Use the clips with the legs to attach the kick face to the legs.

The front edge of the saw gable should project 18 mm beyond the carcass gable after being screwed on. Door thickness plus a 2-mm gap for smooth pivoting without binding on the carcass equals the 18mm knick. The top of the carcass will be even with the viewable gable.

Use a measuring tape to determine the distance between the carcass’s top and each hinge plate’s center. Put the door in the open position on your workbench. Hinge the tape measure at the top of the door and mark the center of the hinges (very close to the edge of the door) with a pencil. Draw a 22mm square beginning at the door’s perimeter and ending at the door’s center. This marks the exact center of the hole in the hinge cup.

Use a 35 mm Forstner bit to drill the hinge holes carefully.

Put the hinges in place and tighten the screws. Attach the door and its hinges to the frame’s hinge plates. Move on to the next door and repeat.

The cabinet door handle should be drilled and installed at a height of at least 1000 millimeters from the floor.

Mount a rail for hanging garments or accessories around 75 millimeters (3 inches) below the shelf’s surface.
You can now move your new closet into place as a freestanding piece of furniture or secure it to the wall studs by screwing through the back of the cabinet. If you prefer more shelf space than hanging space, you can modify this closet by installing a row of shelves or drawers inside the cabinet.

They say that practice makes perfect. The more of these simple tasks you complete, the more assured you will feel in your abilities, and before you know it, you’ll be dashing into the kitchen or bathroom.

A licensed professional should handle any work involving electricity, plumbing, or the building’s framework.
